Goethe spoke of "the Balcony of Europe" and Herder described it as "the German Florence". Dresden is a treasure chest full of music, art, architecture, nature, and wine! Closely connected to history, its cityscape today once again looks as it did before its destruction at the close of the Second World War.
The rebuilt Frauenkirche (St. Mary's Church) dominates with its mighty dome. The Semper Opera House, the Palace, the Zwinger Palace, the Hofkirche (Church of the Royal Court of Saxony) and Brühl's Terrace blend harmoniously into the cityscape; as do the palaces on the sloping banks of Elbe.
The foundation of today's art collection was established in 1560 by the first Wettin rulers (the Kings of Saxony). Their sense of art and their passion for collecting created a unique spectrum of variety and quality in the Royal Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments, the China Collection and the Old Masters in the Zwinger, the new and the historic Green Vaults, the Armory, the Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, and the Turkish Chamber in the Palace. Sculptures older than five thousand years can be seen in the Albertinum and, in the New Master's Gallery, artwork from the beginning the 19th century to the present. Heinrich Schütz, the most important German composer before Bach, Carl Maria von Weber, Robert Schumann, and Richard Wagner have all conducted the famous Staatskapelle Dresden. Theodor Körner, Friedrich Schiller, Casper David Friedrich, as well as the painters of the "Die Brücke" (The Bridge), found their inspiration and intellectual breeding ground in Dresden.

Frankfurt, the dynamic and international financial and trade fair city with the most imposing skyline in Germany. This is the image that many visitors associate with the Main metropolis. But the city in the heart of Germany and Europe can offer many other facets and contrasting variety. Near to the skyscrapers you can find cosy "Äppelwoi" (Cidre) pubs and at the heart of the bustling city centre you find historical sights.
Frankfurt is not just proud of its most famous son, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, whose house of birth can be visited. The Kaiserdom (Cathedral) and the Paulskirche, the birthplace of German democracy, are also to be found here. Kunsthalle Schirn is one of Germanys most active modern art galleries and therefore a must for every art lover. Interesting destinations for excursions in and around Frankfurt turn your stay into a great experience and you will love to come back to this small metropolis.

The city of Hamburg, located at the river Elbe, has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World. One of the most important harbours in Europe and the world, Hamburg takes great pride in its mercantile background, which built the city's wealth in the past centuries. The harbour is the heart of the city, however, Hamburg is also one of the most important media hubs in Germany. Half of the nation's newspapers and magazines have their roots in Hamburg. And unknown to many people is the fact that, with one of the Airbus aircraft assembly plants, Hamburg is a major location of the world's aerospace industry. The distinctive landmark in Hamburg, St. Michaelis Church, is better known as the "Michel". Visitors can enjoy a beautiful view over the city from the tower. Hamburg has a wide selection of museums and galleries to explore, ranging from major art collections like the "Hamburg Kunsthalle", the largest art museum in Germany, to exciting historical exhibitions like the emigration museum "Ballinstadt".

Munich is located at the river Isar in the south of Bavaria and north of the Alps. It is sometimes called "Germany´s Secret Capital" and is famous for it's beautiful architecture and fine culture. The city offers visitors many sights and attractions. There is something for everyone, no matter if you are seeking arts and culture, shopping, fine dining, nightlife, sport events or Bavarian beer hall atmosphere. Munich is also internationally known for its collection of ancient, classic and modern art, which can be found in numerous museums throughout the city. Munich's most renowned museums are the Alte Pinakothek, the Neue Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst, Glyptothek and Lenbachhaus. The Cathedral of Our Lady, the baroque Palace Nymphenburg, the famous Viktualienmarkt and the park "English Garden" are further highlights during a trip to Munich.
